Introduction

Perhaps against my better judgment, there has never been any kind of agenda or ill-fitting manifesto underpinning Fourth Dimension Records beyond a desire to, simply, document work by artists, groups or friends we have liked or wanted to support at any given time. As such, please take into consideration that when the label was taken over by myself, Richard Johnson, in 1984 (from Gary Levermore of Third Mind Records), I was only 18 years old. Having been motivated for several years by punk and, to a greater degree, the corridors explored by post-punk and some electronic music, the label began with mapping out some of its areas accordingly. Of course, it would only be too easy to disclaim certain ideas or releases with the benefit of hindsight, but I'll stand by the logic, or lack of it, behind absolutely everything noted in the catalogue. After all, it would be far worse if the label, and/or my interests surrounding it, didn't keep evolving...

Fourth Dimension Records presently exists to perpetuate the fundamental notion it was originally founded on, anyway. It's here to still support work by those I feel warrant it within my limited means and will continue illustrating this via another few releases planned throughout the year.

Trades, the exchange of ideas, communication of any description, etc., meantime, remains actively encouraged...
